It's 9:20, and I'm at my old job, clandestinely assisting the recovery of a failed PDC and a failed network restore of a key workstation from backup. My friend/Triangle Brother/sucessor had a car accident yesterday and couldn't come in to the office to work on it, so I gave him a ride today.

The NT PDC issue is going to be taken care of by converting one of our Linux samba servers into the PDC. But what's really the issue now is the workstation that has all the payroll, etc. was altered to be able to work without the PDC, and a full restore was attempted over the network. That failed for unknown reasons, so now I've booted the workstation with a RedHat 9 rescue disk, created a live tarball of the backup that we tried to restore, NFS mounted the directory that has it and are going to directly extract the tarball into the mounted FAT32 drive.

We're dealing with Windows here, so we'll either need a miracle, an exorcist, or a deal with Satan himself...
