Back home (Dallas, part 4)

I'm back home now. Yesterday after the very long class, Ryan and I went back to Fry's for a more thorough, non-hunger-interrupted browsing session. I ended up getting Mel a DVD that she always wanted, and a case for my new cel phone (finally). After that, we discovered a diamond among coals: Cheddars.

If you are at all familiar with northwest Dallas (near DFW airport) you'll know it's yuppie-ville. It's great for nice houses, etc., but it's pain on the pocketbook for eating. We were cruising for some dinner after Fry's and wound up at this restaurant that niether of us had tried called Cheddars. It looked like Applebees only a little brighter. We expected everything to be around $8-$9 for a plate. The menu was shocking: average was $5. $5 got me a huge bacon cheese burger with hickory sauce. Between the both of us, the bill was $20. That's half of what we'd been paying everywhere else.

Came back and studied/worked until bed and class the next morning. After packing and checking out, we went to the last meeting of the class. It was quick, over at 12. Andy was heading to Santa Fe, NM to see his woman, so Ryan and I had lunch and high-tailed it out on the Tollway, cross over on the George Bush Tollway to 35, and on to Norman. We so got lucky with traffic by taking the tollways. $1.50 is a small price to pay for 30 minutes to an hour saved.

I'm home now, working, waiting for the six pack I just got to get cold. The trip was fun as hell, a real eye-opening experience. I can't wait until Wednesday... Chicago!
